Best Practices
The verse may seem long at first, but I promise you, with practice, it will not take you more than 5 minutes each time. The contents when you first read them may even sound silly at first, but if you keep to it, it will be a habit that keeps paying. After all, what’s the worst that can happen? The verse is entirely free and takes just a few minutes of your time. The risk-reward ratio is well in your favor. You only need to try.
And if you do try, here’s a few suggestions that can possibly help you get the best of this experience.
1. Get Into A Relaxed State
It can be hard at times to get into a relaxed state, especially when life’s punching you left, right, up, down. So here’s how I usually prep myself to go through the verse while relaxed.
- Go through the verse just after you wake up and just before sleep.
- Your mind is most uninhibited during these moments, so grab your chance to influence your mind.
- Especially in the drowsy moments just before / after sleep, your subconscious mind is most receptive to the ideas that you pass to it.
- Your subconscious mind will process these thoughts subconsciously throughout the day, or in the case of sleep, process it even when you are sleeping.
2. Visualize & Feel
I like to picture myself sitting down peacefully, legs crossed, both hands’ thumbs and middle fingers touching each other and back of palms resting on my knees, as if I’m in meditation form. That is when I will go through the verse while making sure I’m also as relaxed as possible. Visualize and see yourself in a quiet, comfortable and peaceful environment. In my case, I like to visualize myself in nature, in particular a cool forest with a great waterfall behind me.
Imagine the good of the universe is flowing freely and gently into you, in the form golden light rays or whatever form appeals to you.
Likewise, imagine any ill will or frustrations flowing freely out of you, in the form of gray fumes getting dispersed into nothing. Breathe slowly and deeply. Relax your facial muscles. Relax your shoulders. Relax your limbs. Relax your entire body.
Sometimes I like to switch between first person and third person viewpoint in my mind’s eye as well. When it comes to parts of the verse with words like ‘flow freely’, ‘flow ceaselessly’, ‘flow endlessly’, I like to imagine first person viewpoint of the peaceful environment in front of me. Here I take notice of my deep, slow breathes, feeling the good of the universe entering me as with every breathe.
3. Extend Goodwill To Others
In paragraph 3 of the verse, you may include the names of at least 2 people whom you may not have such a positive experience with in life. The idea here is to dispel any ill will you might have towards these individuals. Wishing well for someone you do not like may be hard at first, but keep doing it and you will find any animosity dispersing. This does not mean that you have to be chummy with or even like the said individuals in real life. The practice is simply to take away any negativity you may have for them in your mind, allowing you to move on without burden.
During this section, also visualize yourself standing together and sincerely shaking hands with the ones you are extending goodwill to, in pure bliss and happiness. You may also imagine golden rays descending into them, symbolizing the universe’s riches benefiting them as well.
You may occasionally switch these names with people you love, or if you could not think of anyone whom you had a negative experience with. Similarly, you wish them the best that you can for them.
4. Emphasizing The Last 2 Words
For the last 2 words of the verse, ‘success’ and ‘wealth’, they may not just be referring to your career or finances. It may also refer to success in health, wealth in relationships etc. Do not restrict yourself to just monetary terms, unless that’s mainly what you seek at this point of your life.
Now, back to the last 2 words ‘success’ and ‘wealth’, imagine they are floating right in front of you right now, like neon lights. The lights emitted from the words are flowing freely to you. I know this might sound a little silly, but trust me, get used to it and try it. It will be akin to putting great treasures into your subconscious. It will pay you generous dividends.
5. Go Through The Verse More Than Twice A Day If Necessary
There may be times in your life where things appear more turbulent than usual. These are also times when it’s good to remember that nothing is permanent; whatever obstacles you are facing now shall also inevitably pass. The verse, while not all-powerful, can act as a good reminder of how the infinite powers of the universe can help you through anything in life. If you happen to be feeling less than ideal and the verse comes to your mind, feel free to go through it even in unexpected moments. The words of the verse are not just words. They are the seeds of wisdom that you sow into your mind. You never know what you may yield.
